Research shows chemical fertilizers, especially the miss-use of chemical fertilizers, are one of the major reasons our lakes, rivers, streams and bays are dying.  It has been shown chemical fertilizers are not retained by the soil thereby leaching out into the groundwater, releasing the phosphorous which causes algae blooms.  Algae blooms deplete the oxygen in the water, killing the fish, crabs and other aquatic life.
